Lunar - a woman's amulet that carries the light of the moon
Lunar is one of the oldest female symbols, known in the Ukrainian lands since the times of Kyivan Rus. Its recognisable form of the young moon has long been considered a sign of female strength, wisdom, fertility and harmony with natural cycles.
Our ancestors believed that the moon had a special effect on a woman's life. That is why the moonlight was worn as an amulet that helps maintain internal balance, supports female energy and reminds of the strength inherent in every woman.
Lunare was given to girls and young women as a wish for a happy fate, love, family well-being and continuation of the family. It was not only an ornament, but also a symbol of the connection of generations, female wisdom and respect for traditions.
In different regions of Ukraine, moonlights could differ in shape and decoration. They were made of silver, bronze or copper, decorated with grain, coinage, floral ornaments and solar symbols. Often the moonlight was combined with necklaces, corals or dukaches, creating rich festive decorations.
Today, the moonlight is gaining popularity again. It combines a deep story and modern aesthetics, easily fitting into the everyday look. For some, it is an elegant jewellery, for others it is a symbol of femininity, and for others it is a reminder of their own roots and centuries-old Ukrainian cultural heritage.
In our workshop, we create jewellery with a moonlight, inspired by authentic Ukrainian traditions. We carefully rethink ancient symbols, combining them with modern design, so that each decoration not only complements the image, but also preserves the memory of the culture, which has been passed down from generation to generation.
The moonlight is more than a suspension. It is a symbol of light that is born even in the dark, a feminine power that needs no proof, and a quiet connection with history that we can carry close to our hearts.
